Been doing a bunch!

I have been doing a bunch of stuff these past few weeks. I did a show this weekend which turned out to be a good show. I also got a new Etsy shop to sell my freelance photography and jewelry. I have also been working away designing some new necklaces that I think are going to be pretty cool. I still have to get all the supplies to make them but the sketches and that are looking awesome. but anyways just thought that I should update this a little bit. Ill try and post some images a little later.

Working on stuff!

So I'm currently working on a few things I have a show coming p at the end of this month so I have to start getting things ready for that and I just got an order for 6 necklaces that I have to do up now so that Should be fun. I'm also doing up some sketches of some portraits that I am thinking of doing in the next little while I haven't been doing very many portraits lately and I think that I should get back into that a bit more even if it is just creative stuff. I haven't done anymore church images yet but I'm thinking that I might change it up a little and do a couple of tweaks to the series and instead of just photos of all the old churches I'm going to do different shots of the churches I have already done such as doing night shots of them all and some other ideas I'm currently toying with in my head right now. Guess I should get dome sleep more work to do tomorrow!

New Photo Project

So My latest project that I have been working on is Churches. Old Kingston Churches in black and white. Each Church composite has two structural images and then two detail images. One of the Churches had something that I thought was really cool. I was taking pictures of the Church of The Good Thief and I was standing just behind the front gates taking pictures of the door, I happened to look at the gate to see if there was anything of interest on it and low and behold dangling off the gate was a rusted necklace with a little pendent with and angel. I thought that this was pretty amazing that this necklace has been hanging on the gate of this church for who knows how long and no one has taken it down. 

Jewelry and book marks

Jewelry and book marks are the two new things that I am now offering for purchase all have my pictures in them and I think they look pretty good for the first batch. They also make great presents for Christmas and birthdays! I'm getting some really nice pendent settings coming in from Hong Kong and I'm excited to see those when I finish with them.

Sorry

I guess that I say this a lot so here it goes again sorry that I haven't updated in a while I have been busy prepping and doing art shows and a couple photo shoots as well. I have some new stuff that I am going to be trying out at a show tomorrow in Battersea my fingers are crossed that it will go well anyways I really have to go. Ill post pictures later of my new product.

It's been too long!

I know that I said that I would post some pics and everything when I got home from penn but I haven't had a chance to yet I have edited photos and they are on Facebook but I haven't gotten any ready for here yet. I'm really busy right now getting ready for this show coming up next week and then I have been working everyday at my day job for the last few weeks and I think that is going to be the same way for at least 3 more weeks. so there isn't a lot of time in my day at this point even when I go to bed at 11 which really has to change because that isn't working out so well. But I promise to have some new stuff posted in tthe next few weeks.

Winning And Pennsylvania

So I found out today that I have won the readers choice award for Photography again this year for the 3rd year in a row! Thanks to all that voted! Also I am on my way to Pennsylvania tomorrow for a lovely weekend road trip with my aunt. Im bringing 23GB of shooting memory so I will hopefully get some good stuff to post later for you of my little trip. Well I have to finish cleaning and packing to go and then get to bed its an early morning tomorrow.

Hello All!!

So I got my computer and have loved every minute of being on it. I have also redone my price list for family portraits to be just one simple price I have posted a little image of the new price and all the information on it and then how to contact me if there are any questions about it. anyways I just wanted to quickly come on here and update you and post this thing and now I'm off to do some editing and what not.

So Friggin Excited!!!

I am currently SSSOOOOOOOO excited I went online today and noticed that the computer I have saving up for was and is on sale right now and there for I ran over to the store and ordered it at its sale price so next week I shall have a new computer YAY!!! This has been a long time coming my current computer is a 4-5 year old laptop that just doesn't run or hold as much as it used to when I first got it and it has been heavily used for those 4-5 years so its time for it to get a bit of a break. I will defiantly still be using my laptop it just wont be my main computer anymore. I now have to go and jump around for joy!

Update!!!

Ok so the pictures that I blogged about earlier that I was missing well I found them. They were on one of my memory cards and I hadn't downloaded them yet so I still have to do that. I'm really just glad that I found them and I didn't loose them after all. In other news I registered today to be in the Lynhurst Turkey Fair in September
so that should be fun I guess. I went today to get some frames and stuff for the show so now I have a lot of work ahead of me. I have to frame everything and make more cards and figure out if there is anything else that I can do to sell I think I might try making book marks out of some of my pictures I've tried it a couple times but haven't perfected it yet so Ill keep trying. As for my new computer that I have been saving up for well I still have a bit to save and I spent some on frames today so I'm still hoping to make the money I spent back in the next few weeks as well as making the rest of the money I need. So the hope is still that in the next few weeks I can get my computer. anyways I guess I have to go and get some more stuff done to get prepared. I guess it is a while away but I still have a lot to do.

I Love Light!

So the other day I was sitting in my room at my computer and my sister was sitting on my bed. I thought it was really dark in the room so I opened up my blinds and the light that came in was amazing. I instantly went and grabbed my camera from my camera bag and started taking pictures of my sister sitting on the bed because as I said the light was amazing. It was hitting her face in just the right places. So I just had to post this picture to show the morning glow. In other news I was going to post another keyword picture on here even though I said it was over but I can't find the images to edit they are somewhere on my computer but at this point I have no idea where they are so I'm going to hope that if they aren't somewhere on my computer than that I haven't deleted them and they are on one of my memory cards somewhere in my camera bag. So fingers crossed that I can find them because it was again another amazing light capturing moment. fingers crossed!! and I guess you will find out if I find them or not later on.

Trying something new!

So as you can tell by the title and the photo I tried doing something different from what I normally do with one of my photos. I'm not really sure what I was going for with this image but everyone seems to think its cool and I do too. I wanted to do something that was creative with one of my photographs and so I chose to do it with a photograph of the moon that I took about a month ago and haven't known what to do with it until now. I just started layering a whole bunch of things together different backgrounds and brushes until I ended up with this final image. I'm going to keep playing around with a couple other images and see what I can come up with with those ones too. I KNOW that when I get my new computer which as I said before I am hopefully going to get in a few weeks. I will be able to do some better editing. and come up with some awesome stuff.

Blog Change!!

So You might have noticed that I changed my blog a bit. This is now my only blog and will be for portraits and freelance because I was finding it stupid to have two separate ones. I have also changed the design of this blog. I have been really bad with the whole blogging thing and lets just say this key word project isn't going to be a success I have way to many words and too little time. I think I should have made a smaller list of words. Anyways lesson learned for another time. I'm currently working on saving up for a IMac and I am so close to being able to get one. So excited for it I don't want to wait any longer a few more weeks and I should be able to get it. Any ways moving on I thought with the whole new blog thing that I would post a couple images. So Back to the Keyword Project I'm right now just going to call it quits there isn't enough time in my time line to finish it and I hate not finishing something but that is just the way it goes.

FEET

FEET: When I wrote down the word feet on my list I always knew what I was going to shoot. The only photoshop that I did was changing it from color to black and white and that was it so this person really only has 8 toes. I used one studio light that was on the side but behind the feet so that you get a glow behind the one foot and you can see the bottom of the other it also made it so that it blacked out the person and the background. I actually like this image a lot I'm not sure why but I think its just the way the shadows are and I think that the feet are interesting and you kind of make the viewer wonder if he was born without the two toes or what was the reason they were removed. I think you can ask a lot of questions about this image and I think thats what makes it interesting.

Lots to Do

So it looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. Sorry that I haven't updated recently I do have images to post but I still have to edit them. So they should be updated soon.

HOME

HOME: This image is a little hard to see on here but it is of an ant hill and there is one ant sticking out of the hole and one ant walking around near the hole. I chose this image for home because the way the ants are in the image it makes me think of when your a kid and your playing out side and your mom stands at the front door calling for you to come in. I put the image into black and white but I left the two ants in color so that you can tell them from the dirt. I also played around with the contrast a bit. but that is it my Home image.

HOLD

HOLD: I chose this Image for hold because of the interlocking of the chains which can hold a huge amount of weight. I didn't do much to this photo the main things I did were crop, brighten, contrast and saturate. other than that nothing. So this is my final image for hold.

OLD

OLD: I chose to take a photo of these dolls because they were my grandmothers dolls when she was a little girl and she gave them to my mother and they sit in this exact spot in our guest bedroom. They are very different from the dolls that are around today. I think these dolls are pretty neat but they are still a little creepy but I love them. 

FOOD

FOOD: I think that this word could have been done many different ways I could have done a restaurant standard beauty shot for food but I wanted to do a whole snapshot kind of image for it. Therefore that is what I did. My dad was grilling these burgers for dinner and I just happened to be out there on the deck with him snapping pictures of birds in the trees when I saw the burgers on the grill and I thought that it would be a good image for food so I took it. The only thing I did to the image was up the contrast a bit but other than that nothing. Let me tell you these burgers were soooo good they were the best burgers I had had in a long time. I would totally eat one of those again.

CREATURE

CREATURE: Have you ever wondered what those little red moving dots are that you see running around in the summer on walkways and trees and what not well this is what those little spots look like up close or at least as close as I could get to them. I used this image for creature because this is a creature that is all around us but we aren't always able to see it up close as it is soo small. I used a macro lens to get this image. I didn't do much to the image itself I basically just increased the contrast. Other than that and a slight cropping that is all that I did.

I know that I am way behind on this project but I have a whole bunch of pictures done for it I'm just in the editing process and then I will post them. So they are getting done it is just taking me longer than I had anticipated.

RED

RED: I was told about this bright red canary that has been seen many times by my neighbor and I have been determined to get a shot of it the only thing was is that I spent probably about 3 days siting outside waiting for it to come around and i kept getting other birds but this one just wasn't coming out. So the other day I went out in the back with my family and our supper and all of the sudden i heard it and I turned around and there it was right in the spot I have been waiting for it to show up the only thing was my camera was in side and I was outside so luckily I was able to run in and get my camera before it flew away. I whitened the background from a light blue and darkened the branches so that the red on the bird would stand out. Enjoy!

KEY

KEY: So for this word I had this image in my head of skeleton key and then when I thought of skeleton key I started thinking of The Secret Garden and how the key opened up this whole different world on the other side. So I went and looked for a hole in a stump of tree or whatever I could find that had this feeling of what could be on the other side. That is when I found this tree with this perfect rectangular hole in it the key fit in it perfectly. and I started to shoot. I cropped the image and darkened the  moss and tree and this is what the final image turned out as.

MUSIC

MUSIC: So I wasn't totally sure at first what to do for this word. I kept thinking of musical instruments but I knew that I really wanted to do something with sheet music. The question then was what will I shoot the sheet music against or with was I going to do a macro image of the sheet music and so on and so forth. I was looking at an image the other day that I had in my image research file where the girls hair was pinned up in a tree with clothes pins and I thought I could totally do that with sheet music that would be kind of cool. So guess what I went and borrowed clothes pins from my neighbor and went to the woods with sheet music in hand and started shooting away. I wanted to give the image a HARD look to it so Like always I upped the contrast on it as always. and I think it turned out awesome in fact I think that it is probably in my top three fav images right now.

CHOCOLATE

CHOCOLATE: Finally posting some more images project is turning out to be harder than I was expecting. Anyways this is my image for chocolate. When I think of Chocolate the first thing I thought of was a chocolate covered strawberry. YUM! therefore I wanted to depict that in a way where the chocolate is dripping down the strawberry which I have to say is making my mouth water as I write this and look at the image. This image didn't totally turn out the way I was thinking of it but it is very close and I am still really happy with it. I wanted to make it contrasted with the light and shadows and the coloring. I love the white background with the red strawberry and then the brown chocolate. I think it all works well together.

I Feel Bad

I feel bad that I haven't been posting on a regular basis but I am taking pictures but I'm just not having a lot of success with how things are turning out or I keep thinking that I should be thinking of words a different way and that I am sometimes taking them too literal. So I am working on stuff to post and will hopefully have something to post for you in the next few days. Fingers crossed.

WINE

WINE: I have always had an idea of what I was going to do for this image. Well I didn't do it here for this one. I had every intention to do it but I just couldn't get it to work out totally right. That was O.K. though because I fell in love with this image as soon as I saw it and none of the other ones really measured up to it. my original Idea was to take two wine glasses and have one pouring wine into the other glass and then I would flip the image to a sort of distortion in the way that the one that was the original pouring glass would have been the glass being poured into. I didn't get a photo that I could do that and execute it properly but as I said I fell in love with this image when I saw it. I shot this one with ambient light ( the light in the room ) and I used a sheet of poster board as the background which I have to say was very temperamental as I didn't have anything to hold it back and it kept curling on me but it worked for this shot.

SPIRAL

SPIRAL: Finally is probably the first thing that people who follow this blog are saying. I'm really sorry that it has taken me forever to get back to this and actually post a picture but here it is. So this image here I was actually going to be posted as bumps but I kept finding myself following the rings on it around and around and then I thought I should post this as spiral not as bumps. So therefore from that little thought I now have a spiral image. So as you can probably see this is a shell. My little sister who isn't really little considering she is 16 came home with these two shells that she had gotten from a teacher and immediately came into my room and told me that I had to take a picture of them because they were too cool not to. As you can see I listened to her and took some pictures of the shells. I wasn't going to use them for anything I was just taking them to make her happy and to get her out of my hair so that I could go back to working on more important things that I had to get done. As it ends up looking at the photos made me think that they might be good for this project although no real thought went into the taking of the image It still represented a word that I had on my list and no photo should be left behind and not taken seriously.

I owe You

O.K. I know I have been really bad at this and I owe you like 6 pictures. Sorry about that I should have them soon for you I am working on them I did a couple shoots yesterday for them I just have to edit them first. Happy mothers day to all mothers as well. So I owe you 6 pictures and I will hopefully post at least 3 by tomorrow.

Gone off track

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I am going to try to post at least one image tonight and catch up with where I should be in the project. So keep checking back and hopefully you will be surprised to see some new images and words finished.

Posting

I had previously put up an image for bumps but I wasn't happy with the final image so I deleted the post I am not going to put something up if i'm not happy with it. I had thought that I had previously posted that I was going to post an image everyday but I found out that I didn't I just know that I have to get them all done by July 30th. I am going to try and post as much as possible but I might not always be able to do a post everyday.

PINNED

PINNED: O.K. so this was a spur of the moment image. I was sitting looking at my list of words not sure what I was going to do but just knowing that I had to do something to post so as I was saying I was looking at the list and I came across the word pinned and I thought of wrestling. While sitting there thinking about how I would do a wrestling photo for pinned I looked down at my desk and saw a pin and I instantly ran out of my room and grabbed an apple and a handful of pins and shoved the pins into the apple. I like to call it my voodoo apple MUHAHA! Any ways I shot this image with my studio light. I wanted the lighting to be really contrasted between dark and light I thought that this would work well with this image since it kind of gave me a creepy feeling sitting on the floor in my room sticking pins into an apple. Like really what did the apple ever do to me to stick pins into it. It's art baby! but anyways I pinned the crap out of this apple and now it probably hates me which is fine because I'm going to eat it now. 3 days down 89 to go.

TIME

TIME: For this word I wasn't really sure at first what I was going to do I could have done a few different things. My dad has an old pocket watch that has been sitting in the kitchen for forever and I have always been wanting to do a photo of it so I thought that this was an opportune time to do it. I didn't want to take a picture of just a watch on a wrist or on a white background. I wanted the image to be different in the way that I wanted to use the pocket watch but I wanted to shoot it in a spot that you wouldn't normally see a pocket watch. I ended up going into the woods behind the house and exploring for an interesting spot with a background that would be really cool with some kind of moss. I finally found the perfect spot where the plants around the watch kind of encase the watch itself and frame the watch. I feel that the watch is a representation of time in that its the way we tell time and keep time. So this is my time image. Two down 118 to go.

REFLECTION

REFLECTION: I chose to do reflection as my first keyword. I think that when most people think of the word reflection the first word that comes to mind is mirror. I took this thought and threw it away. I wanted to come up with something different than what the everyday person would think of. After much thought I finally came up with Reflection in writing as in reflecting on your day or the past the way I and a lot of other people do when they write in a Diary or Journal. Therefore that is what I ended up doing my first image on. I wanted the image to have a lot of contrast to represent the things that people reflect on Such as the bad things that people have to go through in there lives and what people tend to write about in there journals. I put the pen in the image to represent the the action of writing down and reflecting on everything. The words in the image are to show the reflection it's self. So there it is my first image and description. It should only get better as time goes on. I'm just happy that this project is finally in motion and I can get to work on the images.

I know I said

I know I said that I was going to shoot and post broken as my first image BUT thats not happening. I decided that I wanted to work on my idea for that a little more and therefore I have a different one that I am going to post right after this.

Almost time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is almost time to start shooting on Saturday I will be posting my first word and picture with how I came up with it. I am very ready to start this project it couldn't come fast enough. I keep looking at my list and thinking what the hell am I going to shoot for that word? I have ideas for some of the words but others I don't have a clue yet what to shoot. Thats one reason why I didn't set a word for each day because then I would be missing a lot of words. The way it is now will work a lot better. CAN'T WAIT.

I Think it will be...

I think that u Have chosen to do Broken as my first image I have an idea for that one but we will see there are 7 days left I believe. who knows what will happen in 7 days. I could change my mind by then and go for something else. I can't wait to start this project It isn't coming fast enough for me. I should have started at an earlier date. oh well I'll wait till the 1st it shouldn't be too much longer fingers crossed I hope time goes by faster.

11 days!

11 days to go till I start shooting The Keyword Project. Still not sure about which word I'm going to start with I guess we will find out on May 1st what I choose.

Excited!

I'm very excited to start my Keyword Project I think that it is going to be an interesting project. I've started to brain storm and figure out what I'm going to do for some of the words and I'm really looking forward to start shooting and creating images and showing them on here and writing about how I got to that point. Can't wait but I will. May 1st the madness begins!

It's Official!

I have decided that I am going to start my Keyword Project on MAY 1st and ending July 31st. This gives me 3 months a total of 92 days to get 120 pictures done. This hopefully wont be to hard. I am going to do the words in random order there is no set order that I have to do them in. I have to start brainstorming on ideas.

A little more insight

Just thought I would give you a little more insight into my keyword project. There are a total of 120 words on my list. A few of the words that are on my list are ones such as: Hold, Tangled, Balloons, Sing, Flying, Invisible and 114 other random words. I don't have a set timeline for this project yet but I want to have it done in three months which shouldn't be to hard unless I can think of anything to do for that word.

Keyword Project

This is my summer freelance project. It consists of a list of everyday words that I have put together. There are over 100 words on the list. Through out the summer I have to pick words and create a image out of that one word. Once I do that I am going to post the finished product on here for your comments. I will explain  how I got to the final product from the word that I have chosen. I plan to start this project very soon hopefully in the next few weeks. we will see how it all goes. 

New to This

I am very new to blogging but I'm going to try my hardest to keep this updated and going for as long as I can. This is my freelance photography blog. I have a keyword project that I am going to start working on in a week or so. I will tell you more about that in another post. I guess I will first tell you a little bit about me. I have been taking pictures since I was a little kid I used to steal my Dad's Camera and take pictures with it when I was around 5-6 years old. I started selling my work when I was 15 doing various art shows in Kingston, Ontario as well as I hung and still hang my work at Copper Penny Restaurant Downtown Kingston (I have too update and put more down there soon) which you can buy off the wall. I recently went to and graduated from Sheridan College in Oakville and am now working on improving my freelance portfolio as well as starting my own Photography Business.
